Climb the Acropolis, see the Parthenon and visit other ancient sites including the Ancient Agora, Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Theater of Dionysos Eleuthereus. You can also visit the nearby ancient Panathenaic Stadium from which the Olympic Flame is delivered to all the Olympic Games
MUSEUMS
The Acropolis Museum is a must-visit. There are many other local museums to immerse yourself in art and history, including the National Museum of Contemporary Art, National Archaeological Museum or the Museum of Cycladic Art.

VISIT THE CITY
laka - Thissio - Anafiotika: A charming historic district at the foot of the Acropolis with pedestrianized streets, shops and restaurants. Nearby is Monastiraki Square which has a lively and bustling atmosphere with a local market and other historical sights.

A limestone hill with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city which can be visited by foot or the Lycabettus funicular railway on Aristippou Street.
NATIONAL GARDEN
A public park in the centre of Athens with ancient ruins, mosaics and other features.

TEMPLE OF POSEIDON AT SOUNION
Cape Sounion is the site of the ancient Greek temple of Poseidon with incredible sunset views. The site is approximately a 1-hour drive from central Athens
MOUNT PARNITHA
A national park, 30km outside of central Athens with hundreds of footpaths and mountain bike trails.
VISIT THE ISLANDS
Take your pick! There are hundreds of islands within a short ferry trip (or flight) from Athens. Ferries to most islands depart from the Piraeus or Rafina ports. Ferries can be booked online or at a local travel agency.
